Fall keeps us busy too

What an amazing sailing season 2016 has been!  The weather, the breezes, the great sails we were able to take, they will continue on with us through the winter and it’s snow and chilling temps.

A big thank you to all of our staff…we could not have done it without you, and to our guests who let us take them on sailing adventures and show them the beauty of our home.  We enjoyed all of the special sails and lobster bakes we put on over the summer.  How better to experience Maine sailing culture by participating in a schooner race across Penobscot Bay, or having a  lobster feast on a beautiful island?  We are so fortunate to live here!

We are now in the process of hauling the Olad and Owl out of the water.  We will start the sanding and varnishing portion of our season.  Lots of work goes into these two beautiful wooden vessels, and many raw fingertips will be had by the time it is over.

We have many winter projects planned to keep us busy through to spring.

Along with giving the boats their best shiny luster, we are also preparing our storefront at 29 Main St in Camden for a holiday season pop-up shop that will be opening on November 25th.  Su-Z-q Felts and Phoenix Fire Pottery will be taking over most of the small space to sell beautiful handmade wool items and functional stoneware.  Susie Cooke, owner of Su-Z-q Felts is also our business manager for the Olad and Owl.  Please stop in and visit her Thursday through Saturday starting the day after Thanksgiving, and check out her assortment of hats, scarves, needle felted animals, and much more.  Her sister, Jessica Goodwin and owner of Phoenix Fire Pottery, will have a large selection of thoughtfully made stoneware items from bowls, mugs, vases, and pots to name a few.  To preview some of the items that will be for sale, visit Su-Z-q Felts & Phoenix Fire Pottery Holiday Pop Up Shop @feltandpotterypopupcamden on Facebook.  Olad & Owl gift certificates, hats, and an assortment of t-shirts will also be available.

Cheers!
